 FAQ

1. What are my accommodation options during a trip to Mallorca?

There are several types of accommodations available for tourists in Mallorca. These accommodations include hotels, resort hotels, aparthotels, rural hotels, fincas, and villas.

2. I love to hike and I’ve heard that the mountains in Mallorca have some good trails. Are there any camping grounds available?

There are no commercial camping grounds in all of Mallorca though there are public areas where you can find a toilet or even a shower. These areas can serve as your camping ground but you need to bring all of your own camping gear. You can also forget about camping and stay in a hotel and join hiking excursions to enjoy the mountain’s beauty.

3. I want to book a room in a hotel. What should I do?

The accommodation reservation in each hotel varies so it is best to contact the hotel itself through their website or via phone. You can also make use of tour operators who will take care of the reservations for you. In most cases though accommodation reservations are processed instantly though there are some cases (especially during peak season) when you need to wait for a confirmation of your desired room’s availability which is given to you either via phone call, sms message, or email.

4. I want to book a room, my airport transfer, and car rental all at the same time. Is there anyway I can do that?

Yes. You can choose tour operators that offer such packages to save you the trouble of having to book them individually. You need only signify your preferences and let the operator do the reservations for you. Some operators offer packages that have more services than these and some hotel resorts even offer all inclusive packages.

5. How much do I need to pay when booking services in advance?

In order to confirm reservations for any number of services (this can mean just your accommodations or an all inclusive holiday) you need to pay a deposit to the tour operator or the hotel. The amount of the deposit differs for each operator and hotel but is usually simply 10% of the total amount of the reserved services. You will only need to pay the remaining amount to the hotel itself when you get there and the other service providers you’ve made reservations with like airport transfer and car rental.

6. If I choose to not continue with my trip will I get a refund?

This depends on how early you cancelled your reservations and the initial amount you paid in advance. Each establishment has its own set of policies regarding cancellation and refunds. To make sure that you do get a refund it is best to cancel at least more than 2 days before your trip. This is usually the window they give for full refunds. In most cases the 10% deposit is forfeit even if you cancel early. You’ll only get a full refund of the initial advance you gave minus the non-refundable deposit.

7. If I decide to change my reservation details do I have to pay extra?

If you decide to upgrade your room then you will need to pay extra. However if you only need to change the reservation dates then most often than not this request is accommodated for free though there is a chance it won’t be approved if the hotel is fully booked on the new date you require.
