Enjoying the Largest Island in Spain

Island in Spain

WHEN I decided to have a vacation in Spain a month back alone, the first place that popped into my mind was Mallorca. You see, Mallorca is the largest island in Spain and I’m really craving to go there. Madrid and Barcelona are downright boring already, what with the all the bullfights, the cathedrals, even the girls and everything else in between. I want go somewhere exotic. Ibiza and all its naked girls in their naturist beaches is okay but what I want is to go somewhere which has not exactly been exploited yet. I want to be in a place where I can be myself without any inhibition that huge crowds will crash in on you and disturb you. Mallorca is destined to be that place.

And so there I was a month ago at the luxury of my pad here in London (Hostel in London) that I was browsing through my Notebook at the website of one of the most reputable travel agencies in the world. I keyed in the word Mallorca and went about searching for the cheapest yet quality flights and hotels (Rome hotels) to Mallorca (crucero). I soon found out there were dozens and dozens of flights available in my proposed duration of stay in the region. There are actually direct flights to Mallorca but I want to stay in Madrid for a couple of nights first to get a feel of my immersion in Mallorca. It wasn’t exactly my first trip to Spain, as I’ve mentioned earlier, I have been to Madrid and back.

After I’ve satisfied my stay in Madrid, I then hopped into another flight to Mallorca which wasn’t part of my Expedia deal (I only booked the flight from London to Madrid as well as the hotel suite in Mallorca where I’m gonna be staying.) Then I rented a car for the whole duration of my stay (car hire Malaga). Of all the car rentals they’ve advertised online, I went to the cheapest one and I got an SUV. It’s not cheap for those who can’t afford so beware or else you’ll be misled. Bottom line is, if you don’t have the money, you simply can’t enjoy your stay here. Then I billeted myself at the hotel where I reserved earlier through the very beautiful voices of Expedia staff. It was when I called them that I found out that all flights and hotels to Mallorca are already booked for the succeeding two weeks and I was sort of disappointed. I didn’t like to go to Ibiza because it was too overcrowded but the travel agency staff smiled to me on the phone and said that Mallorca is not as congested as Ibiza. And so I was relieved.

I chose to stay at a four-star-hotel named Blau PortoPeto Beach Resort and Spa. Mind you, it’s not cheap at $462 per day for a standard room but with a full and hearty breakfast. For a standard room, it already has a dedicated Internet connection and a cable TV as well as a jetted tub and a balcony. After all, that’s the only thing a lone vacationer needs, right? What do you think?
